Mizpah Organization was founded in April 2021 by a young, visionary philanthropist and civil engineer, Joseph Nyakeh Boima, who served as Executive Director until 2024.

Joseph Nyakeh Boima was born on August 10, 1995, in Bo City, Southern Province, Sierra Leone, West Africa. He grew up in a family that placed immense value on education, driven by the belief that «Education is the ultimate gift you can give a child», a principle deeply instilled by his parents.

From an early age, Joseph benefited from a nurturing home environment and a supportive school community that strengthened his confidence and commitment to academic excellence. He completed his primary and secondary education in Sierra Leone before pursuing higher education abroad. In pursuit of his dreams, he gained admission to the Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Novosibirsk, the capital of Siberia, Russia.

Before leaving Sierra Leone for Russia, Joseph demonstrated a strong passion for service and leadership. In 2012, he served as a polling agent with the National Electoral Commission (NEC) during the Presidential and Parliamentary elections. His responsibilities included recording and verifying voters. An experience that reinforced his dedication to civic duty and national development.

In 2015, Joseph worked as an enumerator for Statistics Sierra Leone during the National Population and Housing Census (December 5–18). Tasked with surveying households within his assigned area, Joseph witnessed firsthand the harsh realities of extreme poverty many families faced, particularly the plight of children who lacked basic necessities. This experience deepened his resolve to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Sierra Leone's most vulnerable populations.

Throughout his journey, Joseph has remained deeply engaged in community initiatives and professional organizations across Sierra Leone. His leadership roles include:

• Mission Coordinator, Southern Province – Youth for Jesus Campaign (YFGC), Sierra Leone

• National Internal Auditor – Sierra Leone Youth Leadership Federation

• Organizing Secretary – National Union of Students, OBBA (OBBA-NUS), Sierra Leone

These positions reflect his integrity, leadership capacity, and unwavering commitment to service. Through his involvement, he has empowered young people, coordinated impactful programs, and fostered unity within communities.

 

The values, experiences, and convictions Joseph cultivated through education, civic service, and leadership became the foundation of Mizpah Organization. Established to combat poverty, promote education, strengthen child protection, and uplift vulnerable communities, Mizpah stands as a testament to his enduring vision for sustainable change.

Joseph’s mission is clear: to transform vulnerability into opportunity and to ensure that every child, regardless of circumstance, is given the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. Through Mizpah Organization, he continues to pursue this vision with passion, integrity and a deep love for his country and humanity at large.
